From the first few moments of this film’s contemplative opening scenes, set in a vast landscape of forested mountains half-hidden in the mist, as sincere voices recount true stories of personal encounters with mysterious beings, viewers begin to sense that this is not just any old Bigfoot movie. A Flash of Beauty: Bigfoot Revealed (2022) offers nearly two hours of quiet, gentle loveliness, a cinematic escape from the grind of everyday life, and an opportunity to think in a different way about the beings known as Bigfoot or Sasquatch. Are they monsters, or beautiful entities from a different dimension? What can historic accounts from indigenous peoples tell us about these beings? How does an encounter with a Sasquatch affect the emotional life of a human today? A Flash of Beauty treats these topics with the consideration they deserve, and in so doing, sheds a bit more light on the eternal mysteries of Bigfoot.
